GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport baseball team returned home for a three-game weekend series against Lawrence Tech on Saturday and defeated the Blue Devils 13-3 in a seven-inning shortened game due to the run rule. The Panthers (4-3) faced the first-year program at Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in the final Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference series of the fall.
Nolan Page had a career-high five RBI going 3-for-4 at the plate.
Jeremy Vasquez scored a team-best four runs and had a 2-for-3 day with a walk and RBI.
Matt Hoge drove in two runs and walked twice. The first six batters in the order each had at least one RBI for the Panthers.
Brandon Larkin-Guilfoyle and Oscar Heredia each walked three times. Heredia also had a RBI double while Larkin-Guilfoyle scored twice.
Lawrence Tech pitchers walked 10 Panthers in the contest. Matt Baker (0-3) took the loss walking seven and allowing six earned runs in 3.1 innings. Grant Wolfram (2-1) went six innings and struck out seven while giving up one earned run for the Panthers. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
