GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan named their college and junior college coaches of the year for both men and women's teams. Head coach of the Davenport men's basketball team,
Burt Paddock was selected as the BCAM College Coach of the Year, after he led the Panthers to a 30-7 record and appearance in the NAIA National Championship Semifinals.
This past season, Paddock led the Davenport to their second straight 30-win season in program history with the first coming in the 2011-12 season when Paddock led the Panthers to a 32-5 record. Davenport also made their second appearance in the NAIA Fab Four this past year, and Paddock led the program to their first Fab Four appearance in 2011-12.
Over his seven seasons coaching at Davenport, coach Paddock has compiled a 191-52 record to bring the programs overall record to 218-176, since starting in 2003. He has coached six different NAIA All-Americans, along with coaching the NAIA National Player of the Year in
Dominez Burnett this last season.
Since Paddock took over the reins of the Davenport men's basketball program, they have made the NAIA National Championships the last six seasons, and have won the WHAC regular season title in the 2012, 2013 and 2015, while winning the WHAC tournament title in 2012. The Panthers have had seven-straight 20-win seasons, and have been ranked in the NAIA top-25 polls for 76 consecutive ranking periods, which is the longest active streak in NAIA DII for men's basketball.
Joining coach Paddock on the list of the BCAM Coaches of the Year was; Mike Ingram of Lansing Community College, who was selected as the Men's Junior College Coach of the Year; while Kim Barnes Arico of the University of Michigan won the Women's College Coach of the Year; and Ron Welch of Kalamazoo Valley Community College rounded out the 2015 class being named the Women's Junior College Coach of the Year.
