Davenport Rolls Past Concordia in First Round

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Davenport got off on the right foot to start the 2012 MCLA DII National Tournament defeating Concordia 19-12. The Panthers were led by Dominic Boggiano who tallied seven goals and one assist on the day. Davenport will take on Westminster in the second round on Tuesday at 10:30 AM.
 
Boggiano and the Panthers didn't waste any time and got on the board just 24 seconds into the game. Taylor Keyworth added a goal four minutes later to put the Panthers up 2-0. Davenport then put in two man up goals from Boggiano and Parks to take a 4-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
 
With 7:51 remaining in the first half, Concordia got on the board and added another goal less than a minute later to cut the Panther lead to 4-2.
 
Davenport responded with two goals, by Parks and Mac Ganzak, in the final 38 seconds of the quarter to increase their lead to four through the first quarter.
 
In the second quarter, Davenport got another goal from both Parks and Boggiano to give the Panthers a 8-2 edge. But Concordia didn't give in and outscored the Panthers 3-2 to close out the half and cut the Davenport lead to 10-5. The Panther goals came from Cody Cross and Quintin St. Clair.
 
The Eagles made an even bigger dent in the Panthers lead with a goal to start the third but three unanswered goals by Daniel Hume, Cross, and Boggiano seemed to stop any thoughts of a comeback for the Eagles.

After a Concordia goal, Boggiano added his fifth of seven goals and St. Clair picked up his second goal to give Davenport a 15-7 lead which tied for their largest lead of the game.
 
Davenport was outscored 4-5 in the fourth quarter but the Panthers were able to close out the 19-12 win. Boggiano led all scorers with seven goals on the day also tallying one assist. Lyle Parks also had a big day with five goals while Cody Cross and Quintin St. Clair each had two goals. Mac Ganzak, Taylor Keyworth, and Daniel Hume each recorded one goal. Jordan Richtsmeier picked up seven assists.
 
Zach Higgins picked up the win in net for Davenport improving his record to 7-2 on the season.
 
Davenport advances and will face Westminster on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Westminster advanced by defeating St. Mary's 12-5. Live stats and video will be available for the game.

Jordan Richtsmeier was one assist shy of tying the record for most assists in a game, a record that Richtsmeier currently holds…The 19 goals scored is the third most by the Panthers this season…Davenport and Westminster will face off on Tuesday at 10:30 AM.
