Panthers Compete at the Trine Invitational

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Davenport track and field teams competed at the Trine Invitational yesterday and the DU athletes posted 23 season best performances, 11 personal bests and 8 top 5 all-time performances. This was their sixth event of the 2011-12 indoor season and have only one more meet before the WHAC Indoor Championships on February 18th.

On the men's side Jason Cogswell posted a season best in the weight throw at 16.75m which was good enough for a second place finish. CJ Davis picked up a second place finish in the men's triple jump which was also a new school record (13.41m) and third place in the men's long jump (6.62m).

In the 200m Alex Blehm finished second with a time of 22.44.

On the women's side Amy VanEns (high jump) and Talitha Robertson (weight throw) both took away second place finishes along with DU's 4x400m relay team. Kelsee Vanderbaan set a new school record in the 1000m with a time of 3:12.46.

Head coach Scott Cook comments on his teams performance yesterday: “I thought our student athletes performed very well. Many of them had some big break throughs that will give them the confidence to do some big things at our last couple of meets”
