VanBiljon Announces First Signing for 2011-12 D1 Rugby

Panthers will be coming off national championship next fall

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Division I Rugby coach Kruger VanBiljon is pleased to announce the signing of the first student-athlete for the 2011-12 squad.  Sheamus Deering from Chicago, Ill. becomes to newest member of the now defending national champions.

Sheamus comes from Mount Carmel High School and is an exciting backline player that will fit in with the speed the Panthers plays with. Deering, at 6'0, 175, will suit up in the backline for Davenport. Sheamus has been playing rugby for the last four years and will bring some good skills and knowledge to the team
 
The Signing took place at Mount Carmel High school with Coach Thabu Eloff, Mr. and Ms. Deering and Sheamus' two high school rugby coaches Jack Cushing and Paddy Conway.

The 2010-11 DU rugby team claimed the school's first ever national title in the sport after defeating UC-Santa Barbara in the championship game.
