Lady Panthers Open with 375 at USF Cougar Invitational

Freshman Kasey Bylsma opens her DU career with an 86 - sits in 16th place overall

KENDALVILLE, Ind. - Freshman Kasey Bylsma opened with an 86 on Monday afternoon as she led the Lady Panthers to a 6th place finish after day one of the St. Francis Cougar Invite.  DU posted a team score of 375 as Bethel took the opening round lead with a team score of 320.

With a much deeper lineup in 2010, the Lady Panthers got off to a solid start in their opening tournament of the year.  Playing against some of the top teams in the region, Davenport finished 6th out of 7 teams in the USF Cougar Invite after 18 holes of play.

Freshman Kasey Bylsma (Grand Rapids, Mich.) led the way for DU firing an opening round 86 in her first collegiate tournament.  She sits only nine shots off the lead which was held by Kim Smith of Walsh University (Ohio).

Other scores for the Lady Panthers were Emily Duval (Grandville, Mich.) with a 90, Katie Springer (Grandville, Mich.) with a 99 and Nicole Labonte (Windsor, Ontario) with a 100 for the total team score of 375.

Davenport will look to push their way up the leaderboard today as they continue play ealry in the morning.
