The women's soccer team earned a season sweep of Indiana Tech on Wednesday night when they defeated the Warriors 4-2 for their 2nd win in as many tries. With the win, DU improves to 3-8-1 overall and 2-5-1 in WHAC play. The Panthers took command of the game very early when Ashley Phillips scored in only the 2nd minute of play. Daniella Bugli and Leah Vanlaan also scored in the first half for Davenport to give the visiting team a 3-0 halftime lead. The Warriors would not back down as they fought back to within a goal with just over ten minutes remaining, but Jaelene Huf put the game away when she scored in the 86th minute for the final outcome of 4-2. Davenport will travel across town on Saturday when they make a visit to Cornerstone University for a homecoming match-up with the Golden Eagles. Men's Soccer After a tough two-game stretch that saw the Panthers lose control of the WHAC lead, Davenport rebounded with a solid 3-1 victory over host Indiana Tech. The win takes DU to 8-2-1 on the year and 6-2 in WHAC play. Efrain Hernandez continued his stellar play when he gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead off the assist of Tony Deakin in the 9th minute. The game would then be a defensive struggle until the Warriors tied it up in the 76th minute. Knowing that a win would be critical in the WHAC race, the Panthers quickly responded with the game winning goal less than three minutes later by Lewis Robinson. DU would go on to add a third goal by Deakin for the final outcome of 3-1. Davenport will travel to cross-town rival Cornerstone University on Saturday, for a crucial game against the Golden Eagles. |
