Feb. 1, 2010 NAIA D2 Men's Top 25 Poll | NAIA D2 Women's Top 25 Poll GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The latest NAIA D2 basketball polls were released on Monday afternoon and after defeating previously ranked #12 Cornerstone, the men rose to #13, while the women fell one spot to #2 after their first loss in over two and a half months. Hastings (Neb.) took over the top spot in the women's poll and the Broncos are the fourth team this season to own the No. 1 ranking after earning six first-place votes and 394 points. Davenport drops one spot to No. 2 and also received three first-place votes. Cedarville (Ohio) remains third despite six first-place nods, followed by fourth-ranked Briar Cliff (Iowa) and fifth-ranked Northwestern (Iowa). Like Hastings, Davenport was beat while playing on the road, as the Lady Panthers were taken down by then-unranked Cornerstone, 65-54, on Jan. 27. The loss also ended a 21-game winning streak for Davenport, who's record is now 21-2, 7-1 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Cornerstone moved into the Top 25 poll for the first time this season after a pair of Top-20 upsets as they also defeated #16 Aquinas. The Saints fell to #25 as there ranking still gives the conference three teams all-together. A pair of league contests awaits the Lady Panthers this week, playing host to UM-Dearborn on Wednesday, followed by Madonna on Saturday. The men's poll continues to be dominated by a few conferences that have seen up to four teams respectively in the Top-25, but the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) is making its own mark. Davenport rose five spots to #13 after a 61-60 upset of previously ranked #12 Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles dropped to #15 while fellow WHAC member Siena Heights came in at #21. The Panthers, who are 19-5 on the year and a perfect 8-0 in league action, will take to the road for both contests this week as they will at UM-Dearborn on Wednesday and at Madonna on Saturday.
