KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2008 Brine-NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Teams, as selected by the NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Selection Committee and DU's Tony Deakin was placed on the Honorable Mention Team. Tony Deakin makes his second straight appearance on the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention team after leading Davenport to a 10-8-1 overall record during his senior campaign. The 6'0 midfielder, who was named the 2007 WHAC Player of the Year, posted three goals and five assists as he made the transition to defense midway through the season. Deakin, who hails from Oldham, UK will graduate next spring and has been a nucleus in the success of the Panthers men's soccer program over the past four years. Deakin finishes his career with 18 goals and 14 assists while leading the Panthers to an overall record of 45-26-4 while. Other accolades over Tony's four years include 4-time All-WHAC 1st Team, 2005 WHAC Newcomer of the Year, and 3-time All-Region VIII 1st Team. Davenport University captured the 2005 WHAC Tournament Championship and finished one game away from the NAIA National Tournament the same year.
