2008 Men's Soccer NAIA Scholar Athletes in PDF KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Davenport University men's soccer player Duvare Minto has been named an NAIA Scholar Athlete for the 2008 season. The 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athletes were announced yesterday with 264 student-athletes and over 100 schools receiving the prestigious honor. Minto, who is a sophomore on the soccer field but a junior in the classroom, helped the Panthers to a 10-8-1 overall record and a 3rd place finish in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC). Minto, who hails from Jamaica, scored two goals and posted two assists for six points on the year. He finished 7th on the team in scoring and was a critical part to the Panthers defense and midfield throughout the year. In order to be a recipient of the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award, one must fulfill these requirements: the recipient must be a junior or above in academic standing; has been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of one full year of attendance; has a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of nomination at the nominating institution; has been certified as eligible. Duvare is the 3rd NAIA Scholar Athlete in Men's Soccer in school history joining Sean Testa and Biko Amenuvor who earned the honors during the 2007 campaign. |
