GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Head Men's Basketball Coach Burt Paddock would like to announce the transferring of Darryl Nobles from Ferris State to Davenport University. Darryl comes to DU after playing at Ferris and standing out at Detroit Country Day High School. The 6'5 Nobles led Detroit Country Day High School to the 2006-07 Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class B State Championship while earning Detroit Free Press Class B All-State honors. He averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists per game as the Yellow Jackets posted a 22-6 overall record. Head Coach Burt Paddock is very excited to have Nobles after he transferred in over the winter semester and stated "Darryl is going to be a terrific addition to our basketball family! Darryl is extremely long and athletic and should cause a great deal of difficulties for opponents at both ends of the floor. He is a very good shooter and yet has the ability to get to the rim and finish at or above it. Defensively his length and athleticism will allow us to continue playing a variety of defenses while applying even more pressure. More importantly his ability to play above the rim and added strength will greatly aid our rebounding." During his time at Detroit Country Day, Nobles earned four varsity letters and was a two-time team captain. During his short career at Ferris, Darryl averaged 5.4 points and 1.5 rebounds while starting 10 games Paddock added "Darryl is a great kid to be around. He works extremely hard which is evident by the 10-12 lbs. he has put on since arriving at Christmas break. There are very few days that go by that you won't see him in the gym getting up shots or in the weight room working on his body. As a coach, it gives you a great deal of comfort knowing you have players that are as dedicated to winning as he and our team are at this stage. " |
