UPLAND, Ind. - Areil Holt became the first female in 2009-10 at DU to qualify for the National Championships with a "B" Standard time in the 60m run this past weekend at Taylor University. Jason Cogswell improved his weight throw to an "A" Standard as he joined five other athletes in breaking school records.

Areil Holt (Grand Rapids, Mich.) qualified for the National Indoor Championships in Johnson City, TN in early March with a solid time in the 60m run at the Taylor Invite this past Saturday. Her time was also good for a new school record.

Other female school records broken on Saturday were Jena Hilaski's (Hopkins, Mich.) time of 1:05.48 in the 400m, Helena Stieg's (Reed City, Mich.) throw of 11.90m in the weight throw as well as Emily Rossman's (Caledonia, Mich.) time of 12:11.67 in the 3000m.

New school records on the men's side were CJ Davis' (Ada, Mich.) leap of 12.84m in the triple jump as well as Jason Cogswell's (Byron Center, Mich.) throw of 16.42 in the weight throw. Cogswell's throw also gives him an "A" standard at the National Meet.

Amy VanEns (Lowell, Mich.) continues to strive for a national mark in the high jump as the sophomore won the event with a leap of 1.57m and Jess Roodvoets inched closer to two qualifying marks in the long jump and 55m hurdles.

DU will now travel to GVSU this weekend to take part in the Big Meet hosted in the indoor facility in Allendale.
