GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport D3 Hockey team will host #2 ranked Hope College on Saturday night in a game where all of the proceeds will go directly towards the Van Andel Institute. The Panthers and Dutch will face off at 7:00 PM at Patterson Ice Center. The D3 team, behind Head Coach Chris Green, is having their best season in school history as they are currently ranked #3 right behind the Flying Dutchmen. DU will bring a record of 22-7 overall and 8-4 in league action into the game as they look to keep improving as the regular season winds down. The big event of the night will be the effort behind the scenes by the DU players and coaches as all proceeds will go directly towards the Van Andel Institute in hopes of helping breast cancer research. Green commented on the event stating, "We will have pink buckets to donate changes and small bills for every goal scored and the cost of the game is any donation." The DU team will be wearing their black and pink jerseys in the game as they look to improve on their regional rankings in hopes of gaining an automatic bid to the National Tournament in Fort Meyers, FL in early March.
