Game of the Week: Wednesday's Triple-Header (Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball)

Women's Soccer vs. Cornerstone

The Davenport Women's Soccer team continues their best seasons in school history as they prepare to take on Cornerstone in their regular season finale on Wednesday. The Panthers have already surpassed the previous school wins record of 11, set last year, and will look to capture their first WHAC Regular Season outright with a win.

Davenport improved to 14-2 overall and 7-0 in WHAC play on Saturday with a 2-1 win at Madonna to clinch at least a share of the WHAC Title for the first time in program history. At 7-0 in conference play, Davenport sits a game and a half up on both Cornerstone and Madonna who both have a conference record of 5-1.

The Panthers will be led by Lizzie Paul, Letesha Cannonnier, and Michelle Marcus. Paul leads the team in goals (9), assists (8), and shots (63). Cannonier leads the Panthers and ranks 21st in the NAIA with four game winning goals on the season. Marcus has been great for Davenport in net with a 14-2 record and a conference leading 0.73 goal against average.

Cornerstone comes in averaging 2.67 goals per game and allowing 1.20 goals per game. Maile Carigon leads the Golden Eagles with eight goals on the season. Kathy Butt will most likely get the start in goal for Cornerstone. She leads the team with a 1.15 goal against average and has made 54 saves en route to a 11-2 record.

Men's Soccer vs. Concordia

The Men's Soccer team comes into their match-up with Concordia with a 8-6-1 overall record and a 4-3-1 record in conference play. Davenport has proven to be tough to beat at home this season coming in with a 5-1 record at the DU Turf Field. Concordia comes in with a 6-8-3 overall record.

Brnada Bernard leads the Panthers with four goals on the season while Stuart Collins and JC Smith each have tallied three goals on the season. Women's Volleyball vs. Aquinas

The Davenport Volleyball team will take on Aquinas in their final home match of the regular season when they take on one of their cross-town rivals Aquinas. At 6-2 in conference Davenport is tied with No. RV Cornerstone for fourth in the WHAC. The top four teams in the final standings will receive a first round bye in the WHAC Tournament.

The Panthers went 5-0 last week including four straight set wins to bring their overall record to 23-5. In the seventh year of the program, the 23 wins is the most in the programs history and the Panthers have improved their win total in every year.

The Panthers will be led by Amber Getty and Nicole Chase. Getty was named the WHAC Volleyball Player of the Week last week after helping the Panthers to a 5-0 week. She set a new career high with 59 assists in the Panthers win over Olivet Nazarene. Chase leads the Panthers and the Conference and ranks 36th in the NAIA in total blocks with 103.

Aquinas comes in with a 14-13 overall record and a 5-3 record in conference play. The Saints will be led by M. Kolstad who leads the team in both aces and kills with 20 and 241 respectively. As a team the Saints rank 25th in the NAIA in digs per game with 17.38.

Robert Kleiman is the Davenport Male Athlete of the Week for the second time in 2012-13. Kleiman helped the Panthers capture the first ever Blue/Grey Cup in their rivalry with Liberty University (Va.).

In the opener, a 6-3 Davenport win, the sophomore posted a pair of goals and an assist and then finished off the series with another goal in DU's 6-5 shootout win on Saturday night. Kleiman also had the second shootout goal to help the Panthers post the 2-1 win to sweep Liberty.
