GULF SHORES, Ala. – Two homeruns gave No. 5 Central Baptist an early lead and the Mustangs pitcher threw a 1-hitter as the Lady Panthers were handed a 5-0 loss in the second game of pool play.  Davenport is now 0-2 as they wrap up play against Notre Dame on Saturday at 11:30am EST.

The pitchers dominated the play early on, but CBC's Emily Guess took control and never looked back as the freshman threw a complete game 1-hitter to lift the Mustangs to the 5-run win.

After two scoreless innings that saw all six DU batters strikeout, the CBC bats came alive with a 2-run homerun over the left-center field wall.  Central Baptist (54-4) then put another run on the board in the fourth on a solo shot and added two more in the fifth for their five runs.

Kelsey Egyhazi (Mishawaka, Ind.) managed the lone hit for Davenport as the senior singled to open the seventh but the bats behind her left the runner stranded.

Davenport's bats, which were a big reason that got them to the NAIA National Tournament, went quiet again for the second straight day. After accounting for just two hits against No. 15 Shorter on Thursday, Davenport finished with 14 strikeouts and just the lone hit by Egyhazi.

Karlee Despres (Belmont, Mich.) (11-3) finished with the loss for Davenport as the junior allowed all five runs (4 earned) on five hits.

Davenport (38-17) will take the field for the final game of Pool E on Saturday at 11:30am EST.  The opponent will be AMC foe Notre Dame College (Ohio). Live stats and live audio will be available.
