Five Different Panthers Bring Home WHAC Championship Trophies

ANGOLA, Ind. – Davenports indoor track teams competed at Trine University today in the WHAC Indoor Championships. The men finished 4th overall with the women finishing 5thTalitha Robertson (Sterling Heights, Mich.) took first in both the shot put (12.21m) and the weight throw (15.77m) earning her a WHAC Individual Championship for both.

Along with Robertson the following other athletes earned 1st place in their events:

CJ Davis (Ada, Mich.) – Triple Jump (13.35m)
Carleton Hunter (South Haven, Mich.) – 60m (6.94)
Joey Snellink (Hudsonville, Mich.) – 1000m (2:33.13)
Kelsee Vanderbaan (Grand Rapids, Mich.) – 800m (2:24.78)
 
Snellink (1000m), Hunter (60m) and Dallas Wade (Kentwood, Mich.) (200m)  improved their NAIA B standard marks, with Amy VanEns (Lowell, Mich.) improving her Indoor National Tournament qualifying mark from a B standard to a A standard.
 
On the day, each mark set by the above WHAC Champion broke the previous school record along with VanEns (high jump) and the women's distance medley relay setting their marks in DU's record book as well.

The Panthers will now start preparing for the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Jackson, Tenn. which run from March 3-5. Event though they did not qualify as a team, DU will be represented individually in various events.
